Touring Townsville

Beautiful Townsville Beach

After spending the day with some cute and cuddly animals at the Billabong Sanctuary, we were ready to head out and see the rest of Townsville. So, off we went to explore the many interesting aspects of Townsville. Sadly, this didn’t take very long, as Townsville isn’t all that big and didn’t have much to it. However, it did have the boardwalk, which was quite beautiful to walk along. There was an art exhibit happening along it, so we were able to see some interesting pieces of work.Woof Woof We also stumbled along a really cute dog, and two possums hiding out in a tree! They were quite cool to see, as they are huge pests in Australia. People hate them because there are so many of them and they eat a lot of the natural vegetation, especially new buds, which therefore stop any new growth of vegetation. Beware of JellyfishAnother unwanted and rather dangerous pest however is the Australian Irukandji and Box Jellyfish, the former being the most venomous creature in the world. Just a quick little rub from one of these tiny little jellyfish and you could be at death’s door (pretty impressive for a creature that’s roughly no more than a cubic centimetre).
Fun with Ziplines! One of the highlights of the evening in Townsville was walking along the pier, watching the fishermen fish, and then going to play at the playground. Woo Hoo!There was an incredible zip line, as well as an awesome pyramid rope climber, and we spent the evening acting like big kids. It was good fun, and great to spend a bit more time out of Big Bertha and in the real world!
