Ubud – The Heart of Bali

By the time Wednesday night rolled around, everyone was itching to get on the road and see some more of the beautiful island of Bali. Luckily for us, our good friend Tim Moran arrived that evening without a hitch. We quickly sorted out some of our plans for our time together, and by the next morning, the six of us were on the road heaing to Ubud. We arrived in the city of Ubud (which is the cultural and arts heart of Bali) by midmorning, and we were very happy to find accommodation for the next few nights in a gorgeous bungalow at the edge of some rice terraces. We dropped our bags there, and then made our way down the road to the monkey forest where we bought our tickets and our bananas, and headed into the forest.Monkey Family Right away we were greeted by a throng of monkeys, all looking to get into our bananas and water bottles. We fed them, took pictures of them, and enjoyed watching them do all the crazy things that monkeys do. Inside the forest, we donned sarongs and headed into the “Temple of the Dead” a 14th century Balinese Hindu temple. The Temple of the Dead We made it out alive, and from there continued to explore the monkey forest and all that was in it.
