Bounding into Bali

After a fairly uneventful plane ride, we arrived in Kuta Beach, Bali, Indonesia. We were looking forward to a relaxing and easy time here, as we had previously been here two years ago and it was very quiet. However, this was not the case this year. We spent a good two hours searching for a place to sleep for the night, and finally found one at the lovely Hotel Sorga. Unfortunately, it would only be for the night as they were booked solid for the next two weeks.
The next morning we were up bright and early with our hunting caps on. It took us a little time and a lot of patience, but we were soon able to score a place for the next few nights at the quaint Agung Putra Inn.
We were very lucky, as the next day we went to the airport two times, the first time to pick up Jono’s sister, Aimee, and the second time to pick up his mom and dad. Mom and Dad LaaksoIt was bona-fide Laakso family reunion in Bali (not a bad place for a family reunion if you ask us!). We spent the next few days with them, discovering Kuta and getting accustomed to the many differences between Canada and Indonesia. Kuta SunsetsWe went to the beach, where we tried our hand at surfing (even dad tried too!), jumped around in the waves, and enjoyed some spectacular sunsets. We also spent time at the pool, catching up on the many months that we’ve been apart, and we were even able to squeeze a few massages and pedicures in. And of course, we were sure to stop in and sample treats and tropical drinks at some of the fabulous restaurants Kuta has to offer.
By Wednesday, everyone was itching to see some more of Bali, but we waited out the day, and by nightfall Jono once again went to the airport, this time, to pick up our good friend Tim Moran.Tim Moran Arrives The next day, the six of us were loaded up and heading out of Kuta for the next part of our Balinese adventure!
